Gunmen wound Iraqi serviceman in Kirkuk

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: Unknown gunmen on Sunday opened fire on an Iraqi soldier in Kirkuk City, according to a local security source. “On Sunday noon, unknown gunmen driving a civilian vehicle wounded an Iraqi soldier in al-Shourja area, near the Olympic playground,” the source told Iraqi News. “The wounded has been taken to the hospital for treatment,” the source noted, adding that an investigation is currently underway. Kirkuk, an oil-rich and mixed city of Kurds, Turkmen, Christians and Arabs, lies 250 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. SS (P) 1
