3 lawmakers to quit Kurdistan Parliament

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: A leading figure in the Kurdistan Change List on Saturday said that he, along with two other members, including the list’s chairman, would quit the Parliament and devote all their time to party work. Speaking to Iraqi News, Othman Banimarami said that he, along with the list’s chairman, Noshirwan Mustafa, and Mohammed Tawfeeq, will tender their resignation to the leadership of the Kurdistan’s Parliament during its second session this Monday (Aug. 24). On Thursday (Aug. 20), the Kurdistan Parliament held its first session, during which Massoud al-Barazani took the legal oath as the president of the northern region. The Kurdistan List’s nominee, Kamal Karkouki, was elected as the speaker of the Kurdistan’s parliament and Arslan Bayez as deputy speaker, while Frest Ahmad Abdullah was elected as the secretary of the parliament. The Change List has won the second largest number of seats, 25, during the last parliamentary elections, held on July 25. SS (P) 1
