Talabani, U.S. amb. discuss recent blasts, security

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi President Jalal Talabani discussed on Sunday with U.S. ambassador in Baghdad Christopher Hill the recent bombing attacks in some Iraqi provinces and means to sustain security there, a presidential statement read. “Talabani and Hill exchanged views on the general situation in the country, with particular emphasis on security developments and recent terrorist bombing attacks,” according to the statement that was received by Iraqi News. “The two sides also dealt with bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States in all fields,” it added. On Wednesday (Aug. 19), the Iraqi capital Baghdad was rocked by six blasts with improvised explosive devices and car bombs. On Thursday (Aug. 20), the recent tally of casualties of the bombings were announced by Maj. General Qassem Atta, the official spokesman for the Fardh al-Qanoon (law imposing) security plan, to be 82 deaths and 1203 others wounded. AmR (P)/SR 1
