Ash Wednesday’ gathering stages sit-in in front of foreign ministry BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A civil society group called “Ash Wednesday Gathering” staged a sit-in on Wednesday in front of the foreign ministry’s building to condemn the last week’s bombing which left scores of casualties. “We staged a sit-in today in front of the foreign ministry’s building to condemn the criminal attack that took place in the area, during which scores were killed or injured,” Hanaa Edward, chairwoman of al-Amal humanitarian organization, one of the organizations taking part in the Ash Wednesday gathering, told Iraqi News. “The sit-in was staged by a group pf humanitarian, youth and human rights organizations and attended by 75 persons,” she said. “The sit-in will continue until 12:00pm and will be repeated every Wednesday,” she added. The latest toll of casualties caused by Wednesday’s blasts is 82 people killed and 1,203 wounded, according to the Baghdad operations Command (BOC). SH (P) 1
