Ankara meeting to tackle water issue

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources on Monday said that a crucial meeting will be held this Thursday in Ankara to discuss the water issue, drought and the water levels in the Euphrates River. “Minister Abdullateef Jamal Rasheed will lead the Iraqi delegation to the tripartite ministerial meeting between Iraq, Turkey and Syria, which will take place in the Turkish capital Ankara on September 3,” according to a ministry statement received by Iraqi News. The statement quoted Rasheed as highlighting the significance of the meeting at a time he said Iraq is suffering from a lack of water. The minister expressed his hope that the meeting will yield positive results and reach agreements, the statement added. SS (P) 1
