Arrest warrants issued for Iraq’s envoy to Jordan, monitoring board chief

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Two arrest warrants have been issued for the Iraqi ambassador to Jordan and the head of the Board of Supreme Audit for their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity. “The Supreme Criminal Court has issued two arrest warrants for the Iraqi ambassador in Jordan, Saad al-Hayani, and the chairman of the Board of Supreme Audit, Abdulbasset Turky, in accordance with Article 12 of the Supreme Criminal Court Law no. 10 of the year 2005,” Judge Ali al-Rubie told Iraqi News. “The court has evidence of their involvement in crimes against humanity during the rule of the previous regime,” the judge noted. Turky was an expert at the presidential office, while Hayani was an under-secretary of state during the rule of Saddam’s regime, he added. SS (P) 1
