4 U.S. servicemen killed in two incidents

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Four U.S. soldiers were killed in two separate explosions in southern and north of Baghdad , raising the U.S. fatalities in September to six, the U.S. army said on Tuesday. “A Multi-National Corps – Iraq service member was killed today when an improvised explosive device targeting the patrol detonated in southern Baghdad at approximately 10: 30 a.m,” said the U.S. army in a statement received by Iraqi News. “Three U.S. soldiers were killed in Iraq in an improvised explosive device targeting their patrol in north of Iraq on Tuesday (Sept. 8),” another statement said. The death s bring the total number of U.S. fatalities since the start of the invasion in March 2003 to 4,342 , including 110 in 2009. A total of 486 U.S. troops were killed in 2003, 849 in 2004, 846 troops in 2005 and 822 soldiers in 2006. However, 2007 remains the year that saw the highest U.S. death toll with 904. November 2004, which witnessed fierce battles between U.S. forces and armed groups in Falluja city, Anbar province, remains the month that saw the highest U.S. death toll with 137. SH (S)/SR 1
