Deputy governor escapes attempt on life

SALAH AL-DIN / IraqiNews.com: The deputy governor of Salah al-Din province on Tuesday survived an assassination attempt when an explosive charge targeted his motorcade in downtown Tikrit, according to a local source. “The deputy governor, Ahmed Abduljabbar al-Kareen, survived an attempt on his life 500 meters away from the governor’s building,” the source told Iraqi News. “The blast wounded three of his security guards and caused damage to two vehicles of the motorcade,” the source added. Tikrit, the capital city of Salah al-Din province, lies 175 km north of Baghdad. SS (P) 2
