Japanese firms to invest in Nassiriya field

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A delegation comprised of representatives of Japanese companies will visit Iraq later this month to discuss technical issues with regards to the investment in the Nassiriya oil field. “The Iraqi Ministry of Finance is keen to develop economic and financial cooperation with Japan,” a ministry statement received by Iraqi News quoted Finance Minister Baqir al-Zubeidi as saying. This came during his meeting with the Japanese ambassador to Iraq, Shoji Ogawa. Last week, the director of the legal affairs department in the Oil Ministry, Sabah al-Saedi, said that a contract would soon be signed with a Japanese consortium comprising Nippon Oil and Inpex to develop the field.
