30 donums allocated to build hospital in Basra

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: A plot of land of a space of 30 donums was allocated to establish a modern hospital in the district of al-Madina, northern Basra, a local official said on Friday. “The integrated hospital, to stand in Madina district, (100 km) northern Basra, will be composed of several stories and would have 200 beds, a residential section for the nursing staff, a theater for obstetrics and rooms for physicians,” Fattah Mohsen, the official in charge of the marshes development at the Basra Provincial Council, told Iraqi News. One Iraqi donum equals 2,500 square meters. “The project, which should upgrade the health conditions in the district, is being financed from a Japanese grant and would be referred for implementation soon,” he added. The oil-rich port city of Basra lies 590 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
