FM discusses in New York ways of bringing Iraq out of Chapter VII

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari and his accompanying delegation discussed in two separate meetings ways of bringing Iraq out of Chapter VII, according to a statement released by the foreign ministry. “Zebari met on Monday (Sept. 28) with Susan Rice, the Permanent Representative of the United States, the U.S. Security Council president for the current session,” said the statement received by Iraqi News. “Mr. Zebari discussed the Iraqi diplomatic move to end the provisions of Chapter VII and the efforts made to achieve this task and the need for the support from the United States and the permanent Security Council members to speed up the process of restoring Iraq to its international status and legal rights,” it added. “It was agreed that Iraq will continue to take a number of required steps in the coming period.” “The Minister presented to the Chair of the UN Security Council the Iraqi position on the latest crisis with Syria on the background of the bloody bombings on 19/8.
