Parl. passes peasant loan fund legislation

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A law allowing peasants and small farmers to receive loans to finance their projects completed its journey through the Iraqi Parliament today, an Iraqi parliamentarian from the Kurdistan Alliance (KA) said on Tuesday. “Today, the Parliament voted on the laws on peasant loan fund, environment protection and an amendment to the law on judges’ salaries and the Public Prosecution no. 27 of the year 2008,” MP Mahma Khalil told Iraqi News. “The Parliament is keen to pass crucial laws, including the amendment to the Investment Law no. 13 of the year 2006,” Khalil noted. Earlier today, MP Yonadem Konna from the parliamentary economic committee told Aswat al-Iraq  that the loan fund law will help revive the Iraqi agricultural sector and enable small farmers to overcome barriers related to finance.
