Electricity minister, IHEC chief to appear before parl. for questioning

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi minister of electricity and the chairman of the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) next week will appear before the Parliament for questioning, a lawmaker from the Kurdistan Islamic Union said on Wednesday. “Deputy Parliament Speaker Sheikh Khaled al-Atiyya said during a political bloc meeting today that he has sent for the electricity minister, Kareem Waheed, and the IHEC chief, Faraj al-Haydari, to appear before the Parliament for questioning,” MP Sami al-Atroushi told Iraqi News. The minister will be questioned on Saturday about the deteriorating electricity situation in the country, while the commission chief will appear on Monday to respond to queries about violations during the last provincial council elections, Atroushi explained.
