Cop, three others arrested in Salah al-Din

SALAH AL-DIN / IraqiNews.com: Security forces arriving from Baghdad have arrested four persons, including a policeman, in al-Dour district, a local security source said on Monday. “Last night, a force from the Quick Response Department (QRD) raided several houses in downtown al-Dour district and arrested four persons, including a cop, without coordination with the local security forces,” the source told Iraqi News. Separately, the Iraqi Ministry of Interior has released 12 detainees who were arrested during a raid on al-Firdaws mosque during the Friday prayers. Those released included officers from the former Iraqi army. A spokesperson for the interior minister said that the Friday arrests had been made in light of inaccurate information. The arrests had triggered strong public reactions. Al-Dour district lies 20 km east of Tikrit, the capital city of Salah al-Din province, which is 175 km north of Baghdad. SS (P) 1
