Police arrest fugitive in Salah al-Din

SALAH AL-DIN / IraqiNews.com: Police forces on Thursday recaptured an escapee following intelligence reports about his whereabouts in Dalouiya district, according to a local official. “With the help of Sahwa forces and Iraqi army personnel, police forces raided Ghudairefa village (25 km east of Dalouiya) and arrested Jamal Thamir al-Jawari, along with another person who was driving him in a civilian car,” the director of Dalouiya police, Lt. Col. Mohmmed Khaled Abdulhamid, told IraqiNews.com news agency. Jawari had been sentenced to death twice for several murders, including the assassination of an anti-al-Qaeda al-Siddeeq Mosque imam in 2006. With the arrest of Jawari, the number of escapees who were recaptured following a breakout from the Anti-terrorism jail in Tikrit in Sept. 24 has reached 13 out of a total of 16. Dalouiya district is administratively affiliated with Salah al-Din. It is located 90 km north of Baghdad; while Tikrit, the capital of the province, lies 175 km north of Baghdad. SS (P) 1
