Anbar blasts kill 5, wound 22 – source

ANBAR / IraqiNews.com: Five people were killed and 22 others wounded when two car bombs ripped through a parking lot near the provincial council building in central al-Ramadi city on Sunday, a local police source said. “The blasts left five people, including three Civil Defense personnel, killed and 22 others – 10 civilians and 12 policemen – wounded,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The three dead Civil Defense personnel were present in the first explosion site, a short time before the second blast. They were killed while treating the persons wounded from the first car bomb attack,” the source added. “The casualties are most likely to rise due to the powerful blast that also left several civilian vehicles ablaze and severely damaged some nearby stores,” he said. Ramadi, the capital city of the predominantly Sunni province of al-Anbar, lies 110 km west of Baghdad. Earlier on Sunday (Oct. 11), a police source said two car bomb attacks took place near the provincial council building in al-Anbar, leaving an unidentified number of casualties. AmR (P) 3
