Parliament approves agreement with Britain for its naval training capabilities – MP

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: MP from the Kurdistan Alliance (KA), Abdulbari Zebari, said on Tuesday that the parliament approved the naval training agreement with Britain as the latter is known for its capabilities in maritime training. “Britain’s capabilities in the naval training encouraged the parliament to approve the agreement between Baghdad and London,” Zebari told IraqiNews.com news agency. Iraqi MPs finally approved a naval training agreement between Baghdad and London on Tuesday, months after around 100 British sailors had to leave Iraq because no deal was in place. The agreement allows around 100 British sailors and five naval vessels to remain in Iraq to help train the country’s fledgling navy, which is responsible for security at Iraq’s offshore oil platforms.
