Talabani, Erdogan mull ways of boosting cooperation

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi President Jalal Talabani discussed with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday means to bolster cooperation between the two countries, according to a presidential statement. “Talabani received on Thursday (Oct. 15) Erdogan and Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu as well as a number of Turkish ministers,” said the statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “We welcomed Erdogan’s visit to Iraq and considered as a sign of support to our country and its democratic process and an assertion to the strategic alliance between Iraq and Turkey,” the statement quoted Talabani as saying. For his part, Erdogan said “we witnessed a historic day and we signed 48 memorandums of understanding to boost ties in various domains.” Erdogan had arrived in Baghdad on Thursday for a three-day visit to Iraq.
