MPs to vote on number of parliament’s seats – lawmaker

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Parliament’s legal committee will give legislators two options to choose from regarding the number of House seats, a Kurdish lawmaker said on Sunday. Legislator Mohsin al-Saadon said that lawmakers would either keep the parliament’s seats as they currently are (275), or increase them to 311. “There is no consensus among lawmakers to increase the House seats to 311,” al-Saadon told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said that to the contrary of what some blocs wish, the increase would not pass, because there is no accurate census to employ as a justification for the amendment. MH (P)/SR 1
