Suspected Revolutionary Guard arrested

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi forces arrested during the early hours of Monday two men wanted on “terrorist” charges, one of them suspected of involvement with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard forces, a source from the Multi-National Force (MNF) information office said. “Iraqi security forces detained a wanted man in central Basra. The man, a suspected member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, carries arms and munitions from a neighboring country into Iraq with the aim of backing the militias and armed groups,” Colonel Johnson told IraqiNews.com news agency. He did not name that “neighboring country”. “An arrest warrant by the Iraqi government had been issued against that man,” he added. He said that Iraqi security forces also arrested another wanted man who is a “member of a terrorist cell involved in an attack on a tribal affairs department building and other attacks against the Coalition and Iraqi security forces”. The oil-rich port city of Basra lies 590 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
