Kurdish president receives U.S. ambassador to UN

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: President of the Iraqi Kurdistan region Masaod Barazani received on Saturday evening the U.S. ambassador to the UN. The two sides discussed the election bill and carrying out parliamentary elections in Iraq on time, according to Falah Mustafa, director of the foreign affairs directorate in Kurdistan regional cabinet. “The two sides also discussed the Iraqi-U.S. relations,” Mustafa told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said that both sides agreed that the election should be carried out on time throughout Iraq, including Kirkuk. The parliamentary elections in Iraq are scheduled to occur on Jan. 16, 2010.
