IED blast targets MNF patrol in Kirkuk

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: An improvised explosive device went off near a Multi-National Force (MNF) patrol southwest of Kirkuk but no casualties were reported, a senior security official said. “The IED, which targeted an MNF patrol on the Kirkuk-Huweija highway, near Falakat al-Huweija district, (20 km) southwest of Kirkuk, Saturday night, did not leave any casualties,” the source, who is from Kirkuk’s Joint Coordination Center, told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The al-Multaqa police station patrols headed for the blast site,” he added, not giving further details. IraqiNews.com failed to reach the U.S. side for comments. The oil-rich Kirkuk, a city of mixed Turkmen, Arab and Kurdish population, lies 250 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
