U.S. forces release 5 detainees in Kirkuk

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: The U.S. forces on Monday released five detained local residents of Kirkuk, according to a senior security official in the city. “The five detainees, who spent some time inside U.S. army jails, were released after proved not involved in any legal action in Iraq,” Brig. Sarhad Qader, the director of the Kirkuk Districts’ Police Department (KDPD), told IraqiNews.com news agency. Qader did not give further details. The oil-rich Kirkuk, a city of mixed Kurdish, Arab and Turkmen population, lies 250 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
