PM wants to keep parl. At bay from Baathists

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on Sunday called on the Iraqi people and the families of martyrs and prisoners to “say their word so that Baath would not sneak its way into parliament”. “I say to everyone that Iraq would not see prosperity and stability as long as this germ (in reference to Baath) lingers on. None of this party has offered an apology to the Iraqi people for the crime committed by Saddam,” Maliki said in a statement by his information office as received by the Iraqi people. The Iraqi premier was speaking before a gathering organized by anti-Baath institutions at the Martyr’s Memorial. “Because of the Baathists, Iraqi blood was shed, foreign forces entered Iraq, the country’s sovereignty was lost and detentions and mass graves were running rampant,” he added. Maliki noted that they (Baathists) are still “pursuing the same path since 1969, the year they claimed had seen a white revolution in a bid to deceive the people”. AmR (P)/SR 1
