2 gunmen arrested while planting IED in Falluja

ANBAR / IraqiNews.com: Policemen captured two gunmen while attempting to emplace an improvised explosive device (IED) off the house of an official in the city of al-Falluja on Thursday, a local security source said. “Intelligence personnel from the city’s police department arrested the two gunmen while planting an IED in front of the house of an official in Falluja,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The arrests took place after close surveillance by intelligence personnel and citizens’ collaboration with the security forces,” he added, not elaborating on the name or post of the targeted official. He noted that the IED was defused by the bomb squad staff. “The gunmen are now remanded under investigative custody”. Falluja, the largest city in the predominantly Sunni province of al-Anbar, lies 45 km west of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
