“Haj” will not affect summoning oil minister – MP

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A member of the Iraqi Parliament’s oil and gas committee said that the coming trip of the Iraqi Oil Minister Hussein al-Shahrestani to perform a pilgrimage (Haj) will not affect the process of summoning him to the House. Lawmaker Abdullah Iskandar said that according to the law, Parliament will summon Shahrestani upon his return. “The appointment to summon Shahrestani on Nov. 11, 2009, can be postponed until he returns from Haj,” Iskandar told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said that Shahrestani will be summoned for the delay in exporting Iraqi oil, and the nature of oil contracts signed with foreign firms. MH (P)SR 1
