ID8bn electricity projects approved

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: The provincial council in Basra has given the green light to a number of electricity transfer projects worth 8 billion Iraqi dinars, a senior local official said on Thursday. “The projects approved by the council included 11 in the electricity sector, most prominently a project to transfer electricity from Sharq al-Basra Station to the center of the city and from Umm Qasr district to al-Faw,” the head of the development and reconstruction committee in the council, Mustafa Atiya Rasn, told IraqiNews.com news agency. The projects will be financed through an Italian donation, Rasn pointed out. The Shiite city of Basra lies 590 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. SS (P)/SR 1
