Wassit residents protest election law veto

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: Around 300 people demonstrated in Wassit on Saturday near the province’s local administration building, protesting the veto on the Iraqi election bill by the Presidency Board. The demonstrators demanded the Iraqi parliament to reject the PB’s veto,” Majid Ali Askar, one of the demonstration’s organizers and a high-ranking figure of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s Dawa Party, told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said that the demonstration represents the public opinion in Wassit. “People in Wassit want the election bill to pass soon so that the country will not be in a state of no constitutional authority,” Askar said.
