IHEC, Iraqi consul discuss preparations for elections

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) has agreed with the Iraqi consul in Istanbul to set up a committee to help with the preparations for the upcoming parliamentary election. “An agreement has been reached with the Iraqi consul in Istanbul, Salah Abdulsalam, to form a committee comprised of three Iraqi embassy personnel to provide support and assistance to the office without interfering in its work,” Rafed Abdulzahra al-Zaydi from the commission’s office in Turkey told IraqiNews.com news agency. The consulate will call on the Turkish government to provide the necessary protection for the office and its personnel. Parliamentary elections will take place in Iraq on March 7, 2010. SS (P)/SR 2
