Officer killed, 2 bodyguards wounded by roadside bomb in Kirkuk

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: An officer was killed and two of his bodyguards were wounded on Wednesday in a roadside bomb explosion in central Kirkuk, according to the Kirkuk Districts’ Police Department (KDPD) chief. “A roadside bomb went off on Wednesday (Jan. 20) targeting a vehicle belongs to the Kirkuk province’s financial affairs in al-Quds street in central Kirkuk, killing an officer and injuring two of his bodyguards,” Brig. Sarhad Qader told IraqiNews.com news agency. “They were on their way to work,” he added. “The blast damaged also the vehicle,” he said. The oil-rich Kirkuk, a city of mixed Kurdish, Arab and Turkmen population, lies 250 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. SH (P) 2
