SIIC chief, Egyptian ambassador mull bilateral ties

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Chief of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, discussed with the Egyptian Ambassador to Iraq, Shrief Shahin, ways of boosting bilateral ties, according to a statement of the council. “Al-Hakim asserted Iraq’s keenness to strengthen relations with all Arab countries as well as other regional and worldwide countries,” said the statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “The Egyptian ambassador, on his part, said that his country supports the political process in Iraq and the coming parliamentary elections, which, according to him, represents a support to democracy and a realization of the Iraqi people’s ambitions,” it added.
