Iranian envoy says Iraqi polls to result in strong parliament

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iranian ambassador in Iraq, Hassan Kazemi Qomi, said he expects Iraq‘s upcoming parliamentary election to result in a strong parliament and government, according to Mehr News Agency (MNA). “The Iraqi people have dealt with the electoral process after the collapse of the former regime in 2003 in an intelligent, effective and active way,” the Iranian news agency quoted Qomi as saying. “The enactment of the Iraqi constitution and the formation of an Iraqi parliament and government were the most significant achievements during the past period,” Qomi indicated.
