Woman killed, 36 wounded in Mosul on election day- source

NINEWA /Iraqi News One woman was killed and 36 persons, including security personnel, were injured as a result of security breaches in Mosul City over the past 24 hours, a security source said on Monday. “Most of the wounded were civilians who were heading to the polls to cast their votes,” the source told Iraqi News. The incidents included explosive charge and hand grenade blasts, and mortar attacks. Nearly 19 million Iraqis eligible to vote from Iraq’s 18 provinces headed to the country’s voting stations yesterday (March 7) to choose 325 members of Parliament. A special voting that included detainees, hospital-bound patients and security personnel who are working on the election day took place in the country over the past few days. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. SS (P) 2
