Allawi’s bloc leads in Anbar

BAGHDAD /Iraqi News Former Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi’s al-Iraqiya bloc came on top in the 14-seat predominantly-Sunni province of al-Anbar after 91.75% of the votes there were counted, according to the electoral commission. “Some 91.75% of the votes in the country’s legislative election counted so far in al-Anbar showed that al-Iraqiya was leading with 270,302 votes, followed by the Iraqi Accordance with 49,729 votes,” according to the Independent High Electoral Commission.
