Gunmen blew up tribal chief’s house in Mosul

NINEWA /Iraqi News An unidentified gunmen blew up a house that belongs to a Shamar clans chief in western Mosul city on Sunday, a police source in Ninewa said. “The gunmen detonated the house of Sheikh Harroush al-Salem Abdulaziz al-Djerba, a tribal chief of the Shamar clans in Iraq, in western Mosul neighborhood of al-Thawra,” the source told Iraqi News. “The gunmen raided the house and claimed that they were secret detectives that evacuated the house and blew it up,” the source added. Sheikh Harroush, a well-known tribal figure, is dead but one of his sons was occupying the house before he had left Iraq to Saudi Arabia over the security incidents that shook Mosul in 2005. Mosul, the capital city of the unrest-stricken province of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. AmR (P)/SR 2
