Allawi has great chance to head govt.-politician

BAGHDAD /Iraqi News A prominent member of the Iraqiya List on Saturday said that Iyad Allawi has a “big chance” to head the upcoming government. “The Iraqiya List won the largest number of votes. There were talks about this matter before the election and now there is a continuation of the previous talks,” Jamal al-Batteekh told Iraqi News. The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) has recently announced the names of the winners in the legislative elections. The results were announced on Friday (March 26) with former prime minister Iyad Allawi’s al-Iraqiya bloc obtaining 91 out of the parliament’s 325 seats, followed by incumbent Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s Dawlat al-Qanoon (State of Law) with 89 seats, the Iraqi National Alliance (INA) with 70 seats and the Kurdistan Alliance with 43 seats.
