Al-Shahrestani urges ministries to facilitate international oil companies working in Iraq

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Minister of oil Hussein al-Shahrestani on Monday called for all Iraqi ministries and institutions to facilitate the work of the international oil companies working in Iraq. “The Ministry of Oil has a plan to increase oil production in Iraq to more than ten million barrel per day over the coming six years” al-Shahrestani said in a press conference from his bureau in Baghdad and attended by IraqiNews.com. “It is a new experience for Iraq to develop its oil fields using international companies,” he declared. “The Ministry has invited delegations representing these oil companies to the conference in an attempt to diagnose the most pressing issues and give the Ministry space to find solutions,” he noted. “The purpose of this conference is to set up a mechanism which helps to develop the oil companies activities,” Jihad Asim, the Ministry spokesman, told IraqiNews.com. “The Ministry has asked the ministries of interior and transportation to facilitate the the process of ratifying the oil contracts for the international companies,” Jihad added MW (P)/SR 2
