Torn body of gunman identified in Kirkuk

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: The torn-to-pieces body of a gunman who tried to emplace an improvised explosive device (IED) earlier near a village southwest of Kirkuk was identified, according to a source from the city’s Joint Coordination Center (JCC). “During a late hour of Tuesday night an IED went off on the main street near al-Djamila village, al-Huweija district, (65 km) southwest of Kirkuk. The police rushed there and found stains of blood and wires,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The following day saw Huweija police patrols combing the area and finding human remain, which were taken to a morgue,” he said. The source noted that examinations in the morgue “indicated that these remains belonged to terrorist Wessam Maher Ayid Aswad al-Obaidi, a 21-year-old man resident of Umm al-Donya village, who was killed in a blast from an IED he was trying to plant”. The oil-rich Kirkuk, a city of mixed Kurdish, Turkmen and Arab population, lies 250 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (P) 3
