Talabani, Mubarak discuss bilateral relations, Iraq developments

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi President Jalal Talabani met his Egyptian counterpart Hosni Mubarak in Cairo on Sunday to discuss bilateral relations and post-elections political developments in Iraq, according to a presidential release. “President Mubarak received President Talabani who is now paying a visit to Cairo. The two sides stressed the importance of pushing forward bilateral relations based on the fraternal ties binding the Iraqi and Egyptian peoples,” read the release as received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “President Talabani congratulated President Mubarak over his recent successful gallbladder surgery and briefed him on the recent developments in Iraq after the parliamentary elections in the war-torn country,” it added. Talabani had met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit and Egyptian Intelligence Chief Omar Suleiman for consultations on means to buttress bilateral ties. The Iraqi leader had arrived in Cairo on Saturday and was received by Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif and other senior Egyptian government officials. AmR (P) 2
