12 wanted men, suspects detained in Hilla

BABEL / IraqiNews.com: Police forces arrested 12 wanted men and suspected gunmen in two security raids in north of Hilla, a local police chief said on Tuesday. “Policemen waged two crackdown operations in Saniedij regions and al-Askari neighborhood in al-Askandariya district, north of Hilla, where they arrested 10 wanted men and two suspected gunmen in accordance with Article IV Terrorism Law,” General Fadel Radad said at a press conference, attended by IraqiNews.com news agency. “Police and army forces searched the industrial region, where they found a number of mortar shells,” he said. “The operations came in light of yesterday’s bombings in the city, where hundreds were killed or wounded,” he explained.
