Hundreds stage demonstration in Baghdad against Israeli assault on aid convoy

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Hundreds of Iraqis staged on Monday a massive demonstration in Baghdad, calling on the Arab League to take a firm stance against Israel after its assault on an aid flotilla bound for the Gaza Strip. “More than 10,000 persons took part in the demo which started in the Sadr City in eastern Baghdad, with the participation of Interior Minister Jawad al-Boulani and a number of officials and parliamentarians,” IraqiNews.com news agency correspondent said. “They called Arab countries also to close Israeli embassies and expel Israeli diplomats,” he added. At least 15 pro-Palestinian activists were killed and dozens were wounded aboard a relief flotilla bound for the Gaza Strip when Israeli naval commandos seized control of the boats in international waters early Monday.
