Anbar police chief praises tribes’ cooperation

ANBAR / IraqiNews.com: Anbar‘s Police Commander Gen. Bahaa al-Karkhi on Saturday praised  tribes’ cooperation with security forces in the province. “Security stability in Anbar has been achieved through the tribes’ cooperation,” Gen. al-Karkhi told IraqiNews.com news agency. He noted that the tribes’ cooperation with Iraqi security forces has positively contributed to these forces’ performance. “Arrests are carried out based on judicial warrants, and individual acts in this regard are prohibited especially in tribal areas,” al-Karkhi stressed. Earlier, Mizhir Hasoon al-Mullah, head of the Anbar Investment Commission said that delays in some investment projects in Anbar are due to security concerns in the province. “We are busy with security issues created by the Anbar Operations Command,” al-Mullah told IraqiNews.com news agency on Saturday. He described acts carried out by the command as “bigger than security violations.” “We hope that the Iraqi Government will introduce quick solutions to these issues,” al-Mullah noted. He referred to arrest operations conducted by Anbar‘s Operations Command which targeted figures that battled al-Qaeda, in addition to attempts to disarm tribes in the province.Ramadi, the capital city of Anbar province, lies 110 km west of Baghdad.
