Local official concerned about security condition in Anbar after U.S. withdrawal

ANBAR / IraqiNews.com: A member of the local council of Anbar expressed on Thursday worry over the security condition in the province after the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq. “Some police and army commanders in Anbar are not ready to manage the security file after the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, in addition to the deep penetration by al-Qaeda group to security authorities,” Mezher Hassan told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Security condition in Anbar is fragile and the danger lies on the presence of al-Qaeda elements in police and army forces and we have a list of their names,” he added. “There is a high possibility of the return of al-Qaeda to Anbar,” he said, warning against grave consequences if the issue was not taken seriously.
