180 prisoners released from Iraqi jails

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi justice ministry’s reformatory department on Thursday released 180 prisoners from its jails in Baghdad and other provinces after they were acquitted by Iraqi courts, a ministry’s official source said. “A total 180 imprisoned on charges of involvement in armed operations, murder and robbery were released for lack of sufficient evidence to indict them,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. The reformatory department has 32 jails in Baghdad and other provinces of Iraq, including the Iraqi Kurdistan region. Three of those jails in Baghdad, Thi-Qar and al-Muthanna are for women.
