Old Iraqi Embassy’s deserted building in Berlin for sale, according to new Embassy

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com – The premises of the previous Iraqi Embassy in Berlin, deserted since 1991, is currently on sale, according to a statement issued by the new Iraqi Embassy in the German capital on Wednesday. An Iraqi Embassy statement, commenting on an article published by a German newspaper, saying that “Saddam (former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein)’s Embassy in Berlin is facing danger of collapse, demanding its rennovation,” said the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, led by the Foreign Minister, “is treating Iraq‘s properties in Germany with utmost attention, to make use of them for for the interest of the Iraqi community there.” It said that the old Embassy building in Berlin, deserted since 1991 until the downfall of the former Saddam regime in 2003, is under discussion between the Iraqi and German Foreign Ministries, to find a solution to protect its premises from outlaws, who broke through it and burnt the largest part of its premises.
