1 killed while planting IED in Falluja, 5 wounded

ANBAR / IraqiNews.com: A gunman was killed while attempting to emplace an improvised explosive device (IED) in central al-Falluja city, wounding five civilians on Sunday, according to a local police source. “The gunman was trying to plant an IED on al-Hammam street, central Falluja, when the charge went off, killing him instantly,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The explosion left five civilians who happened to near the site wounded and also caused damage to several nearby construction material stores,” he added. “Apparently, the gunman was targeting security forces whose patrol use that street,” he said, not giving further details. Falluja, the largest city in the predominantly Sunni province of al-Anbar, lies 45 km west of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
