Joint Iraqi-U.S. force arrests 5 wanted men north of Kut

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: A joint Iraqi-U.S. force arrested five wanted persons during a search raid north of al-Kut city on Thursday, a local police source in Wassit said. “An Iraqi army-police force, with supervision by U.S. forces, conducted search raids in al-No’maniya district, (40 km) north of Kut, capturing five persons wanted on terrorist charges,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The raid was carried out on the houses of the wanted persons by virtue of arrest warrants on charges of involvement in armed operations that targeted Iraqi security forces,” he said, adding the arrested men are now remanded under investigative custody. Kut, the capital city of the province of Wassit, lies 180 km southeast of Baghdad. AmR (P) 2
