4 AQI members arrested in Diala

DIALA / IraqiNews.com: Police forces arrested an al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) leader of Qarat Tabba during a raid in Baaquba city along with three other AQI members, a senior police official in Diala said on Sunday. “Our police forces arrested today (Sunday) a leader of the AQI, Hayder al-Ahbabi, and three of his aides in Qarat Tabba town of Khanqin district. The raiding forces also seized an amount of explosive charges,” Maj. General Abdulhussein al-Shimari told IraqiNews.com news agency. Khanaqin, 155 km northeast of Baaquba city, is one of the areas subject to dispute between the central Iraqi government in Baghdad and the semi-autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan region. In other security developments, Shimari said that security forces seized an arms cache in al-Saadiya town, also in Khanaqin. Baaquba, the capital city of the troubled province of Diala, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad. SKH/SR/AmR 1
