2 cops wounded in car bomb in Talafar

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: Two policemen were wounded when a car bomb went off near a police station in eastern Talafar district on Sunday, a security source in Ninewa said. “A suicide bomber tried to ram his explosive vehicle into al-Faris police station between the villages of al-Ashiq and al-Muzara’a, (6 km) eastern Talafar, but the station guards identified him and opened fire,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The bomber escaped but the car exploded, leaving two policemen wounded and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment,” he added. Talafar lies 60 km west of Mosul. “Security forces in the district are still searching for the runaway bomber,” he said, not giving further details. Mosul, the capital city of the violence-stricken multi-ethnic province of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
