Bulani meets Sadr in Iran over delayed govt. formation
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq‘s Interior Minister, Jawad al-Bulani conferred in Tehran on Sunday with Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sadr on the recent developments regarding the formation of the new government and the development of the security situation in Iraq, an Interior Ministry report said. “Interior Minister Bulani conferred with Sadr on the political move to get out of the political crisis currently shaking Iraq, due to the delay in forming the new government. The delay comes despite fact that over six months have passed since the nationwide elections that took place in Iraq last March,” read the statement as received by IraqiNews.com news agency. The statement reiterated that “the viewpoints towards the necessity of exerting efforts to improve the situation and bring viewpoints closer among political blocs, to enable them to achieve the ambitions of the Iraqi people, including all their blocs,” it added. The statement also pointed out that both sides have also discussed “the recent developments regarding the security dossier and means to enable the security forces to achieve success and impose security and stability all over the country.” Minister Bulani is heading a delegation representing his Iraq Unity Coalition, which joined the Centrist Coalition of the Iraqi Accordance bloc, while the Sadrist Movement joined the State of Law bloc of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki within the National Alliance, that nominated Maliki for a second term in office.
